Since 1901, the Nobel Prize has been honoring men and women from all corners of the globe for outstanding achievements in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, and for work in Peace. The foundations for the prize were laid in 1895 when 'Alfred Nobel' wrote his last will, leaving much of his wealth to the establishment of the Nobel Prize. The prizes for Physics and Chemistry shall be awarded by the Swedish Academy of Sciences, and for Medicine by Karolinska Inistitute in Stockholm,and for Literature by the Academy in Stockholm, and for the Peace prize by a committee of five persons to be elected by the Norwegian Committee.And also Alfred Nobel said " my expressed wish that in awarding the Prizes no consideration whatever shall be given to the nationality of the candidates, so that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be Scandinavian or not".
In the process several thousand people are asked to nominate the candidates. These names are scrutinized and discussed by the experts in their specific disciplines until only the winners remain. This lengthy and thorough process is arguably what gives the prize its importance. Despite this there have been questionable awards and questionble omissions over the prize's century-long history.And for the Peace prize, inquiries are sent to such people as Governments of States, members of international courts, professors and researchers at university level, former Peace prize leureates, current of former members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee among others.
This year the Peace prize has been given to the US president Mr.Obama, and the Norwegian Nobel Committee praised him for "Extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy,and co-operation between between people, citing his fledgling push for Nuclear disarmament and efforts to outreach the Muslim World". Mr.Obama isn't the first American president to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but he's the first to win it without having accomplished anything. Obama's award is simply the projection of wishful thinking.
The purpose and the duty of the Committee is to stand by the guidelines of Mr.Alfred Nobel' and their own standards, rectify the mistakes committed', (Such as rejecting 'Mahatma Gandhi' for five times) and not repeat them, if the Nobel Prize is to be considered as the highest award as it was originally created. To encourage, to fulfill, to guide, to respect, to prosper, to achieve, to think, to lead, to find the ways for the ever-lasting existance of the Human race, then only the " NOBEL CAUSE " will be achieved as ' Alfred Nobel ' dreamt-off.
